XTM Cloud 26.4

Global TQI settings

Business use case

The TQI feature provides you with quality scores based on configurable thresholds and context-aware translation analysis in line with your terminology, translation memory, and Style guides. This helps you reduce translation costs and improve workflow efficiency by enabling Linguists to focus exclusively on translations that really require post-editing or human intervention.

Note

To use this feature, you must purchase an AI Words allowance for your entire XTM Cloud instance. AI Words are source words sent to the LLMs. Words from the translation memory (TM), terminology, the Style guide field, and context segments are NOT counted as AI Words. For details about AI Words calculation and deduction for projects, see AI Words in XTM Cloud. For pricing information, contact your account manager.

Clients running the new Enterprise or Business subscription (for details, see Licensing) receive a free monthly allowance of 100,000 or 50,000 AI Words per XTM Cloud instance, accordingly. These words can be used for one or more of these AI-driven features: AI Translate & TQI (used either with or without the TQI component), AI Post-Edit, and TQI. For details, see AI-driven Features tab.

If you are using your own LLM keys, the size of the source text, terminology, TM records, context segments, and the Style guide instructions can influence the LLM usage costs. For details, refer to your LLM subscription rules.

If you are using your own LLM keys, you must connect your XTM Cloud instance to at least one of the supported LLMs (for details, see LLM Configuration tab).

The TQI feature automatically evaluates the quality and accuracy of translations displayed in XTM Workbench. For every eligible segment, the feature compares translations generated by two or three different LLMs with the one in XTM Workbench and evaluates their similarity. In the process, it analyzes the source segment, context (the previous and next segment), the three highest translation memory (TM) matches that were added or updated most recently, terminology, and the project's subject matter. The lower the similarity between these translations, the lower the quality evaluation score (percentage). The quality ranges can be configured by selecting the required values for the Unacceptable, Acceptable, and Good thresholds at global, customer, and project levels (in a project template, when creating a project, and in Project Editor). Source text words processed by the TQI feature are referred to as AI Words. Words from the translation memory (TM), terminology, and context segments are NOT counted as AI Words.

Important

To improve the accuracy of translation assessment, especially if the necessary terminology and translation memory (TM) records either do not exist or are very limited, we strongly recommend that Project Managers use a Style Guide during project creation (for details, see Creating a project: AI Translations). As a user with an XTM Cloud Administrator role, you must create one or more Style Guides that can then be used by Project Managers. For details, see Style Guide tab.

The TQI feature can be used in a project:

The TQI feature automatically evaluates all translations in XTM Workbench except those in segments that:

  • are locked.

  • are empty (target segments without translations).

  • are non-translatable, which means the target text is identical to the source text.

  • are already scored (e.g. by the AI Translate & TQI feature).

  • contain invalid inline tags.

  • contain tracked changes. For details, see Tracked changes feature.

To display the TQI section, as a user with the XTM Cloud Administrator role, select Configuration > Settings > AI Control Center. Then, in the AI Control Center tab screen, select the Features sub-tab. TQI is one of the sections displayed in the Features tab screen.

In the AI Translate & TQI section, you see:

  • the Get Started button (if you are running the new Enterprise or Business subscription. For details, see Licensing). It is displayed if the TQI feature has not been enabled for your XTM Cloud instance. Select this button to automatically generate an email message to our team, with which you can request feature activation. Initially, some values in the message you generate are inserted by default, but you can adjust them and add other details to suit your requirements.

  • the Contact Sales button (if you are running Team or any other subscription type. For details, see Licensing). It is displayed if the TQI feature has not been purchased for your XTM Cloud instance. Select this button to automatically generate an email message to our Sales team, with which you can request feature activation. Initially, some values in the message you generate are inserted by default, but you can adjust them and add other details to suit your requirements.

  • the Activated black_circle_checkmark.svg label. It indicates that the feature is currently active at global level. Project Managers can enable and manage this feature at customer and project levels.
