Sending content for translation: initial steps
No matter what kind of translation project you create, to send HubSpot content to XTM Cloud for translation, via XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale), the initial steps are the same. They are described below. In step 12., you select the HubSpot content type that is to be translated. When you select the link for that content type, below, you jump to a description of the appropriate content type-specific steps that you need to follow. These steps are identical for landing page and site page translations, and different to the steps involved in sending HubSpot email templates for translation in XTM Cloud.
For brevity, the instruction "In the top right-hand corner of the [name] screen, select the Next button." has been shortened to "Select the Next button.", below.
Note
Prerequisite for accessing HubSpot with XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale)
To access HubSpot with XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale), you need the appropriate access token for the HubSpot Private App that has been created by a system administrator. If you do not have this access token, ask your system administrator to provide it to you.
Note
Prerequisite for accessing XTM Cloud from HubSpot, with XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale)
To access the appropriate XTM Cloud Instance from HubSpot, with XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale), you need a configured connection. A translation requester can select an existing configured connection, if it is suitable, or create a connection during project creation, if necessary.
For details, see Creating a new connection to an XTM Cloud instance, from XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale).
Initial project creation steps:
Log in to XTM Connect (Locale). You see the Activity screen.
Select the Projects button in the menu on the left of the screen. Existing projects are listed in the Projects screen.
To create a new project, select the New Project + button in the top right-hand corner of the screen. You see the What do you want to connect? screen.
To connect HubSpot as the data source for translation, select XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale) from the list of available connectors. You see the Connect HubSpot screen. It contains a list of existing connections (authentications) from HubSpot to XTM Connect – HubSpot (Locale).
If you select an existing authentication from the list, the Setup your project screen is displayed. Go to step 6. below. Alternatively, to create a new authentication:
Select the + New Connection button.
In the Authentication section, enter the access token for your HubSpot Private App in the Private App Key field.
Note
Super admin access might be required in HubSpot to access this Private App information. If you do not have this access or information, contact your HubSpot system administrator or HubSpot Account Manager for help.
To confirm the access token, select the Next button. The Authentication screen is displayed.
In the Authentication name field, enter a unique name that will be used to identify this specific HubSpot instance in the future, so that it can be identified and added to future workflows quickly.
To confirm the authentication name you have entered, select the Next button. The Setup your project screen is displayed. Go to step 6. below.
In the Languages section, from the Source Language dropdown, select the project source language. English is always the default source language in the XTM Connect (Locale) platform. The source language you select is listed in the Source Language text box.
Note
Language availability
The languages listed in this source language dropdown and the target language dropdowns described below are hard-coded in the XTM Connect (Locale) platform and cannot be changed. If the language combination you require is not listed, please contact XTM Support.

Visit our Support Portal.
Source language mapping: if required, to specify a different language code for the source language that you have selected, to map it to one of the language codes defined in your HubSpot instance, enter that language code in the editable text field to the right of the source language dropdown.
Note
Language mapping
The language codes that you enter in the text box to the right of each selected source or target language must match the language codes in your HubSpot instance.
Correct language mapping is required to ensure that content can be pulled from your data source and returned to it. If languages are not chosen and mapped correctly, content cannot be accessed or sent for translation. This will be indicated by a “no change” status in the activity feed after a workflow has been executed.
Example
If, for example, the XTM Cloud language mapping for all French projects is FR, but the corresponding language code in your HubSpot instance is FR-fr, this ensures that the language mapping is configured correctly in both systems.
From the Target Languages dropdown, select the first project target language. A project must have at least one target language but can have multiple target languages, if required.
Note
The languages selected in the XTM Connect (Locale) platform must also be enabled in the XTM Cloud project template that is selected later, during project creation. Otherwise, the project created in XTM Cloud will not contain all the required languages.
If required, select additional target languages:
Select the Add Language button below the Target Languages dropdown field. An additional target language field, with dropdown, is displayed below.
Select the required additional target language from the new dropdown.
Repeat steps 1. and 2. of this procedure until you have selected all required additional target languages.
Target language mappings: if required, to specify a different language code for each target language that you have selected, to map it to one of the language codes defined in your HubSpot instance, enter that language code in the editable text field to the right of the particular target language dropdown.
To confirm the selected source and target languages, select the Next button. The Configure your resources screen is displayed.
In the Resources section, from the content type list, select the type of HubSpot content that will be translated in this project. A project can only handle one content type. To view the steps necessary to send a particular content type for translation, select it from this list:
