Required configuration data for XTM Connect – Git

Client details in XTM Cloud

  1. Company name used for logging in to XTM Cloud.

  2. Username.

  3. Password for the user.

Tip

Create a new user specifically for XTM Connect – Git to make it easy to track XTM Connect – Git activity separately from the manual actions of other users. The XTM Connect – Git user needs the Project Manager role.

Repositories

XTM Connect – Git can connect to multiple repositories. If you want to configure multiple repositories, prepare a list of them with the following data for each:

  1. Name of the repository.

  2. Repository URL.

  3. Authentication data to log in to the repository:

    1. Username and

    2. Password/Personal Access Token/Passphrase for an Open SSH.

Processing of XML files

By default, entire new or modified XML files are used as source files for the translation project.

Optimized processing, so called incremental processing, of XML files is possible, but it must be enabled by XTM Support.

In this procedure, firstly, the project with all files existing in the source repository is created. Then, after there are changes in some nodes in the source file, the files are compared and only changed nodes are used to create the new project. In other words, during project creation, XML strings that have been added or modified are extracted from the files and joined together into a single source file. When translation is complete, the translated strings are returned to the files they were taken from. As a result, files can be processed much more quickly.

However, this method has some limitations:

  • It cannot be used with continuous projects because it requires new project to be created for each update.

  • This method only works with automatic project creation.
