Dummy customer
You can create a TM and term-only customer to act as a dummy customer for importing historic TM and terminology. You will be able to apply this TM and terminology to projects created for other customers.
Important
You will not be able to create projects for a dummy customer!
Confidential customer
Note
This is a Beta feature.
Business use case
Use the confidential customer feature to restrict access to selected customers. Only external and internal users (including internal Project Managers) whom you actively select will be able to access the company details, metadata, projects, tasks, TM, and terminology for those selected customers.
As a company that assigns vendors to your translation projects, you can give subcontractors and internal Linguists access to your terminology, TM, and concordance, but keep the most confidential data hidden from them.
As a Language Service Provider that serves two or more organizations operating in the same industry, you can offer them an additional security layer: Linguists who work for one of these clients will have no access to competitor projects. Linguists who have access to multiple confidential customers can use the TM and term references for a project, but without seeing metadata for the other customer.
As an enterprise business unit serving multiple internal clients and stakeholders, you can just grant your most trusted vendors access to some of them.
Important
You can only make this setting if you have both an XTM Cloud Administrator and Project Manager role.
Users who only have a Project Manager role and have access to the relevant confidential customer can see this setting in read-only mode.
You can create a confidential customer to protect the related customer's sensitive information from public access, via XTM Cloud UI or API. Only internal users and LSPs to whom you grant access to that confidential customer will be able to see the related confidential customer, in the Customers tab screen and access their projects, tasks, translation memory (TM), and terminology.
To set a new customer as confidential, select the Confidential customer checkbox in the Add customer form. For details, see the Adding customers procedure above.
To set an existing customer as confidential, select the Confidential customer checkbox in the customer's Edit screen. For details, see Customer Editor – Edit.
For details about granting the relevant access rights:
for internal users, see Adding user access rights.
for LSPs, see Adding LSP access rights.
